E-liquid (electronic cigarette liquid) is a specific fluid that is required to be able to use an electronic cigarette. E-liquids are atomized into vapor and inhaled, thus mimicking traditional tobacco smoke. E-liquids vary in flavor, throat hit, and nicotine levels as well as other attributes such as carriers and aftertaste.
E-liquids contain the following components:
Nicotine: The stimulant found in cigarettes. Nicotine is a comparatively simple alkaloid called pyridine found naturally in tobacco leaves. Nicotine is released as a product of combustion when a cigarette burns. We use natural nicotine extracted from tobacco leaves by stripping the nicotine from the leaves both mechanically and chemically. These extracts are then purified with the most advanced fractional distillation techniques before they are used in our e-liquids.
Aroma: The ingredient that gives taste. While our nicotine is first extracted from natural tobacco leaves, it is the following distillation process that makes for extremely pure nicotine. Unadulterated nicotine does not have any taste, so it becomes necessary to introduce flavors into the nicotine solution to make the resulting vapor resemble and taste like real cigarette smoke.
Diluent: This component essentially performs two functions. First, diluents are added to change the relative strength of nicotine against flavoring (or vice versa). This is useful in achieving the desired strength of an e-liquid. Diluents are also used to transmit nicotine and flavors through vapor. The most common diluents are propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG).
